Husband Tells Court, My Wife Should Not Expect Divorce From Me Until She Swears Before My Village Deity, She Is Not Having Extra Marital Affairs

 

 

 

A customary court in Jikwoyi Abuja, was filled with excitement when a man by name Sunday Enejo whose wife filed a divorce against, plead with the judge presiding over the case, not to grant the divorce requested by his wife until she follow him to his village, to swear before a Deity called Aniku, that she has not been cheating on him with other men.

 

 

His wife, a business woman named Rose, filed the divorce on battering allegations against his husband. According to her, he is in the habit of b£ating her up whenever they had an argument over his accusing her of having extra marital affairs.

Having had enough of his battering her, she decided to end the abusive marriage by filing for a divorce in court. Her husband, being decided on her having extra marital affairs, pleased with the court that the case be decided in his village shrine, where they both will swear before the Diety Aniku, who he trusts to give the case a fair judgement, more than the Nigerian Law System.
 

 The court, after reviewing the evidence of battering presented by his wife, and a few eye witnesses who testified to his battering her whenever they had a misunderstanding, granted the divorce, despite the man's plea.
